चेन्नई। भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) के उम्मीदवार ए. जॉन कुमार और उनके बेटे रिचर्ड जॉन कुमार ने रविवार को केंद्र शासित प्रदेश पुडुचेरी में अपनी-अपनी विधानसभा सीटों से जीत दर्ज की। ए. जॉन कुमार पुडुचेरी में विधानसभा चुनाव की घोषणा से पहले भाजपा का दामन थामने से पहले कांग्रेस के साथ थे।
ए. जॉन कुमार ने कामराज नगर से चुनाव लड़ा, जहां से वह दो बार कांग्रेस उम्मीदवार के रूप में जीत चुके थे। उन्होंने कांग्रेस उम्मीदवार और पूर्व मंत्री एम.ओ.एच.एफ. शाजान को 7,229 वोटों के अंतर से हराया।
वहीं, उनके बेटे रिचर्ड जॉन कुमार ने नेलिथोप विधानसभा क्षेत्र से 496 वोटों के मामूली अंतर से जीत हासिल की। उन्होंने यहां से द्रविड़ मुनेत्र कड़गम (द्रमुक) उम्मीदवार वी. कार्तिकेयन को कड़े मुकाबले में मात दी।
अखिल भारतीय एनआर कांग्रेस (एआईएनआरसी) के नेतृत्व वाला राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन (राजग) 30 सीटों वाली पुडुचेरी विधानसभा में 12 सीटों के साथ आगे चल रहा है। एआईएनआरसी ने 8 सीटें, जबकि उसकी सहयोगी भाजपा ने 4 सीटें जीती हैं। कांग्रेस के नेतृत्व में सेक्युलर प्रोग्रेसिव अलायंस ने 3 सीटों पर जीत दर्ज की है। यहां अभी भी मतगणना जारी है और अंतिम नतीजे आने बाकी हैं।
